The cushion cut has been a popular choice for diamond rings for over a century. This type of cut is especially good for showing off a ring's clarity. So, if you opt for a cushion cut ring be sure that you buy one with a high clarity rating. Otherwise, the flaws will be extremely obvious.

However, that being said I should address any men reading this who are planning to buy a ring as a surprise for that special someone. Before you decided to buy any ring, make sure you get an idea of what style of diamond and ring she wants. Cushion cut rings are amazing, but not all women want this type of ring. One other thing you have to figure out when buying an is the metal the ring itself will be made from. The most common choices are 14 or 18 carat white or yellow gold or platinum. Platinum is the most expensive option with white or yellow gold being about the same price for a given carat.
